Professional Quality Make-Up and Supplies for Face Painters and Body Artists
About Amerikan Body Art
Amerikan Body Art was started by me, Erika Harrison, in 2003. Originally, I had just intended to do henna tattoos on weekends to help earn a little extra income so I could stay home and homeschool my three sons. I've always wanted to be a teacher, so I started teaching locally, and eventually at face and body art conventions all over the world. Sometimes I have to pinch myself when I think about how far this business has taken me. It's been an incredible journey of learning and self-discovery. I've met the most amazing artists and found friendship all across the globe. I feel like I have proven that you can have anything you really want in life if you just decide what you want and believe that you will have it.
When I first started teaching, I realized that there was a need for good quality (and safe) body art supplies, so I decided to start the supply shop. Every year our team has discoverd or created new and innovative products to offer to our customers. We continue to evolve and grow to keep up with the latest trends in the face and body art industry.
Our number one business goal is to help others start and run their businesses, by offering the best products, service, and education. We offer wholesale pricing for professional artists and resellers. We work very closely with face and body artists who are "in the trenches" so that we can be sure that our products are effective and well-loved. We test all of our products on ourselves and on our kids (never on animals). If we don't trust a product enough to use it on our children, we won't sell it. We believe in being Karmically responsible and leading by example. We appreciate feedback (even when it's constructive criticism) so we can address any problems and make any necessary changes.
Our company is a women-run business. In fact, the majority of our employees are homeschool mothers. We believe that family comes first. This is one of the main reasons why we limit our shipping to three days per week. If you happen to get us on the phone, you'll be sure to hear a handful of kids running around the warehouse. If you need to talk to us on the phone, we ask that you email us and leave a phone number where you can be reached, so that we can call you when we're in work-mode instead of trying to juggle babies, grocery shopping, and a busisness call. We understand that you are trying to run a business yourself and may need information quickly, so we make every effort to check our emails frequently and to return calls as quickly as possible.
Another reason why we limit our shipping to three days per week is to reduce gasoline consumption. We do what we can to have as little negative impact on the planet as possible. We reuse packing materials and would love it if you were able to do the same. If you notice that our product packaging changes from time to time, it's because we sometimes buy closeout lots of pouches and boxes that are reusable, rather than disposable. We offer many of our products in bulk quantites so you can refill your containers. Not only do these things benefit the environment, but they also help us to keep our product prices as low as possible.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about our company. I always appreciate the emails from people who find that they have something in common with us or who are inspired to start their own business. I am sincerely grateful for the support and partnership that I have found in the face and body art industry. If there is anything at all that I can help you with, please don't hesitate to send me an email.
Erika
